Cultivar epithet:  'Aurea'

Species/hybrid:  Heliconia bihai

Description:  Erect inflorescence, 6 to 12 distichous bracts, dark red over most of cheek (decreasing on upper bracts), green along lip, distal keel and tip, yellow on proximal keel and upper cheek (increasing on upper bracts), basal bract mostly green, bracts with white waxy coat distally.  Rachis maroon to dark red between lower bracts, changing to red and yellow between upper bracts, sepals green distally and white with yellow tint below, ovary cream and pedicel cream with a yellow tint or white.  Vegetation musoid.  Height 10 to 18 feet.
