| Cultivar epithet: 'Richmond Red' Species/hybrid: Heliconia bihai x caribaea Description: Erect inflorescence, 7 to 17 distichous bracts, red with maroon at base of lower bracts, or all red or all maroon, narrow yellow lip with small green tip, basal bract with more green, especially on distal keel. Rachis dark red, sepals green on distal half and white below, ovary and pedicel cream-white. Vegetation musoid, with white waxy coating on stem, petiole and lower midrib. Height 9 to 15 feet.
