Cultivar epithet:  'Ruby'

Species/hybrid:  Heliconia acuminata

Description:  Erect inflorescence; 4 to 6 distichous bracts, red with pink at base or entirely pink; rachis pink above and red below; sepals pale green, dark green, or cream; ovary dark green distally and light green basally, or entirely cream; pedicel light green or cream. Vegetation musoid; stem may be maroon or blotched, usually with maroon all along lower midrib. Height 1.1 to 1.8 m (3.5 to 6 feet).
